TBCO Marketing CD (2003)

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Four years ago, during a summer position, I designed the first Truman Bodden & Company Marketing CD. It is a CD that outlines the Services for the Firm’s Marine & Corporate Department. I packaged the project and also did the photography. This summer, the Firm hired me to design their new marketing CD making the 2003 CD obsolete. Below are screenshots of the 2003 CD and a picture of my mother Veronica Fierro and Gina Berry taken at a boat show in Florida.

Oslo Graphic Design Schools

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I recently went to visit two graphic design schools here in Oslo. One is called Westerdals School of Communication and the other is called Norges Kreativ Fagskole. Both offer a two year Graphic Design course with possibilites of studying a third year. The course layout is pretty much the same for both schools and they both start taking in new students this August. I really liked both schools (which are referred to as the best graphic design schools in Norway) and am thinking of applying to both. They both require a written application to the school and Westerdals requires a practical test aswell. I have a cousin who went to Westerdals.

I was hoping on being able to start school in January but as that is not the case I am going to apply to some jobs soon. According to both schools, landing a job in graphic design depends heavily on your abilities (rather than if you have studied the craft or not) so I have to make sure I pick up the rest of my portfolio when I go home to Cayman this Christmas.

Here are links to the schools.

Photoshop Tips - Automated Batch

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I was recently referred to a site that links to various blogs and I found a cool tutorial in one of them. The tutorial is called ”Free Yourself with Automated Batch”. Pretty much, it shows you a method where you can perform specific actions onto a file and then have Photoshop perform those specific actions to a whole folder. I used to use quite a bit of Automated Batch back in the day when I was working for Rapid Photo Ltd. I found it refreshing to re-learn the skills and do the tutorial.

Here is the link to the website and the tutorial.

A Bad day fishing beats a Good day working

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I’m really enjoying my time here in Oslo. There’s lots of cool things to see and the parties/events are always filled with interesting experiences and fun times. Plus, alot of my family is here and I get to spend alot of time with them. One thing I do miss though, (besides my friends and my Mom) is fishing. The closest I get to fishing in Oslo is eating sushi. I am looking forward to going to Cayman this Christmas where I will be able to fish.

A picture of me fishing in South Sound, Grand Cayman.

My mom sent me this funny animated gif. You have to watch the guy on the left, not the girl.
